Summary/Abstract: At the end of the 19th century there were 50 public libraries, of which ten were in Budapest. The evolution of Gedeon Ráday's library since its establishment in the 18th century can be reconstituted with the help of the rich archive material made available to researchers. Currently, the library is included in the Ráday Institute belonging to the Reformed Church of the Eparchy of Dunamellék (Fig. 1-6). It is treated as a unitary institution, consisting of a library, archive and museum. The special collections are made up of the following sub-classes: the Ráday Historical Library, the RMK Collection, the Benda Kálmán Collection, the Collection of Periodicals, the Collection of Manuscripts, of course, along with important archival documents and museum collections. In this study we are dealing with the history of the books and its bindings (Fig. 3-4).
