Summary/Abstract: Idioms are linguistic elements that indicate advanced or proficient users of a language. In this study, we present the experiment of acquiring specialised idioms by first year students in the fields of European Studies, Management, Psychology and Pedagogy through an autonomous activity that allows for individual work or pair work. Our aim is to analyse the students’ vocabulary improvement, their ability to use idioms in a contextualised manner and to assess their presentation skills.
