Summary/Abstract: In the literature, attention is paid to the role a developmental state played in the dynamic development of the Asian Tigers. It is important to analyze the system solution, chich contributed to the success of mentioned economies and evaluate its possible effective use in developing countries. The aim of the paper is, therefore, to assess the relevance of developmental state system for the economic development of developing countries. In the first part of the study, an idea of developmental state is going to be presented – definition, characteristics and the main assumptions of its' functioning. Then, the relevance of developmental state system for the economic development of the Asian Tigers will be examined while these are the countries considered to be precursors of the system. In the last part of the paper, the role of developmental state in the formation of the socio-economic order of developing countries will be assessed.
