Summary/Abstract: In the traditional community of the Romanian village the status of the girls was well outlined and their role in the customs was clearly established. With that being said, the custom called Lioara, which took place only in the villages on the Crişul Negru valley, captured the moment of the young girls being introduced among the big girls. Spring, as a season of renewal, spiritual peace and joy, was chosen as the season of the feast being marked by these rites of passage into another stage of life.
