Summary/Abstract: The British Hogarth project commemorates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. Famous contemporary writers (Ian McEwan, J. Winterson, M. Attwood, etc.) carry on the Shakespearian message licking into a modern narrative shape. Our contribution points out their apt way to communicate with the readers of the 21st century highlighting and preserving the main patterns, characters, plot of Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest. The former landscape of figures, situations and images is vaguely able to communicate with readers living during 21st century. So, the well known modern Canadian writer, Margaret Atwood, finds out an inspirational and challenging way to mirror Skaspeare’s play into a novel, revolving meta-referential technique. However she has preserved the basic patterns, this essential core of the way stories are made. In this sense, the real significance of this comprehensive approach is to comment upon the new dealing with Shakespearian themes maintaining the basic components adding meta-referential striking and refreshing connotations. This modern attempt proves that Shakespeare’s elemental composition stands for the storytelling impulse of mankind forever.
