Summary/Abstract: Words and lexical units come and go into the Romanian lexis which is a domain into a permanent changing. Thus, words with different etymologies (words that are borrowed from French, English, German and other various languages) come into our vocabulary and influence it with the passage of time. One of these words that are used frequently in the process of communication belongs to what the researchers call ”active vocabulary”. Lexical units and borrowed structures into Romanian lexis that aren’t used constantly into the communication process go to the ”passive vocabulary” and remain there – up to the moment they are spoken by.
