Summary/Abstract: Old writings of chroniclers, as well as the pictographic documents, tell us about different musical instruments used in music throughout the history of the Romanian people. A work made entirely of wood of different essences and densities, meant to serve the music, the most subtle of all arts, the Italian 16th century violin spread all over the world and became the favorite folk instrument everywhere. Starting with the 18th century, the violin is met even here, in the hands of the most famous artists. From then until now, in a continuous evolution, the violin grew roots due to its multiple artistic possibilities, becoming part of the famous collection of traditional Romanian instruments.
