Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the place of charisma of the friars of the Order of Resurrection in the process of creation of history visions in scholarly narratives by Walerian Kalinka. He thought and acted within a specific charismatic matrix determined by an important element of spirituality of the Resurrection friars – to dwell on penance and sorrow within “The Spiritual Exercises” by St Ignatius of Loyola. With the lapse of time, the element took on importance becoming the key idea, and dominating the resurrect spirituality, it metaphorized all cognitive categories, leaving its mark both on the pedagogical but also on historical reflection. We are justified in talking about the macro-metaphor of “review of sins” Kalinka put on the past in order to give it sense. “Sins” of the nation were to make Poland collapse and only the awareness of and satisfaction for them would make it possible for the Poles to regain their country.
