Summary/Abstract: In the present approach I examine the idea that movies, no matter if they are seen as a form of art or not, have invaluable philosophical virtues, because they are accessible tools for understanding complex concerns that have intrigued human curiosity, such as the ontological nature of the world, the relation between reality and representation, the puzzle of consciousness and so on. I aknowledge the value of some meaningful and thought-provoking studies and authors in the field of film theory and cinematic criticism, especially the critics of cinematic philosophy. I also argue that nowadays we could find, through films or movie productions, new and accessible ways to awaken the enthusiasm and interest of our students for relevant philosophical issues. Over all, this article is an open invitation to discuss and examinate movies as a form of valuable cultural discourse.
