Summary/Abstract: The article deals with some dialect sources for the study of Ludian (Ludic) verbs: archival and field materials, as well as the samples of native speech. The Audio Archive of the Institute of Linguistics, Literature and History of the RAS Karelian Research Centre has been collecting audio and video materials since the late 1940s. Speech samples recorded by A. Barantsev between 1963 and 1973form a significant part of this audio archive. Field materials collected by the researcher can also serve as important dialectal sources. As a rule, a dialogue with native speakers is the main source for identifying grammatical forms and categories of speech. This is achieved through questions related to the informant’s everyday life. The study of the verb category in the Ludian dialect presents severe difficulties to the researchers. Collecting language material is becoming increasingly difficult year after year: the number of fluent speakers of their native language is rapidly declining. The Ludian dialect is on the verge of total extinction. Open Corpus of the Veps and Karelian Languages (VepKar) contains dictionaries and corpora of the Finnic languages of Karelian peoples.VepKarproject is a continuation of work performed for creating the Veps language corpus. The corpus is a search information system, which includes a set of digitalized texts written in corresponding languages. In the future, this corpus can also be a reliable dialect source.
