Summary/Abstract: Investments play a central role in the economy of a country, both in the production of goods and services and in the sphere of consumption, being a factor which influences not only the demand, but also the supply. The purpose of this research is to identify the effects of FDI on the economy of a country and analyze their evolution in Romania. The research results show that FDI inflows have fluctuated in the period 1990 - 2012, being influenced by certain internal and external factors. The FDI stock generally had an increasing tendency, except for the years 2010 and 2011.
