Summary/Abstract: The article aims to analyze the cultural presence of Western countries, especially the United States, France and the United Kingdom, in the television programs in Romania between 1963 and 1983, and to compare the results with those obtained from the similar analysis on television in Bulgaria. The research is conducted within the cultural history framework of 20th century, and uses as starting point the relation core – semiperiphery – periphery, outlined by the American sociologist Immanuel Wallerstein.
