Summary/Abstract: The service of Pimen Georgescu – the Archbishop of Iaşi and the Metropolitan of Moldavia and Suceava during the reuniting war – remains exemplary for the qualities to be proven by the bishop of Christ’s Church under difficult circumstances for the community entrusted to him. Its assessment is outlined synthetically and with great force of suggestion in the inscription on the cross standing above his grave in the cemetery of Proviţa de Sus (Prahova), his place of birth: “Here lies Pimen, the Metropolitan of Moldavia and Suceava, the Metropolitan of War and of the Romanian Nation’s Reunification 1853-1934”.
