Summary/Abstract: This paper represents an attempt to frame a theoretical model for a gradual and reasonable social intervention. We will bring arguments favoring the thesis that, in spite of the entire technological progress of our times, which facilitates long distance charitable interventions, at least in precarious socio-economic circumstances, it is preferable to allow the moral intuition that encourages philanthropy in the realm of proximity. We will try to demonstrate that through approaching contextually our moral duties to help others in critical need and by establishing, at the level of each society, a minimum threshold of well-being from which each person could, eventually, engage in charitable interventions, a more feasible charitable framework could be forged. Moreover, exploiting the moral bias to help the proximate needful people could lead to a progressive increase of the capacity of social intervention and, thereafter, to assuming beneficence as moral duty.
