Costs of treatment and prevention of diabetes

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the issue of constantly rising costs associated with the treatment of diabetes – a civilization disease of the 21st century. Based on the literature data, there was a huge disproportion between the costs of prevention and the treatment of diabetes complications. The problem of prevention is debatable, mainly due to its limited territorial coverage and incidentality, while the needs are multi-sectoral and require systemic changes.
