Summary/Abstract: The paper tackles two topics concerning mixed-parenting practices in Bulgaria. On the one hand, there is the naming of the offspring with regard to the name giver(s) and principles of name-choosing deriving from the parent(s)’ cultural heritage and the influence of the actual social environment. On the other hand, the paper discusses the question of mastering the “other” language, a development resulting from the micro management of each of the families, in many cases of each of the partners. Parents’ decisions regarding these topics define how others look at the offspring of mixed origin, so as how much the children accept themselves as bearers of different cultural backgrounds.
