Summary/Abstract: The article reveals a panorama of the specific difficulties which are specific to pastoral transhumance, in southern Transylvania, from the eighteenth century, until today, focussing on the disagreements between sheep farmers and authorities, the incompatibility between their views and those whom they must cooperate with, all these generating conflicts. Aggression and violence, other interests of this article, concern with violent behaviour and events related to pastoral transhumance, too. The sources of aggression and violence are coming from unfriendly environment, wild animals, human attitude and behaviour, which can harm the sheep and shepherds. The shepherd defends and responds to bullying using the bat, his “weapon” to solve conflicts and aggression. The conflicts, aggressions and drama that accompany pastoral activities are exemplified by the written documents since in 1848, folk poetry, field research on individual sheep owners and media. The overall conclusion of the study is that there are many difficulties in pastoral transhumance, having a large variety of causes.
