Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problem related to the right to firearms by citizens of theRepublic of Poland in the context of safety and current legislative solutions. It showshow the right to own firearms functions, what is the historical background and what isimportant for security in the United States, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.Attention was drawn to the restrictive policy of the Polish legislator regarding this law.The final part of the article posed a question whether the difficulties in obtainingweapons by Polish citizens could be explained by the possible fear of the legislator aboutthe increase in crime with the use of firearms, and thus concern for the safety of citizens.The answer was to synthetically and logically explain the necessity to change the currentlegal status. To show the problem, a map was presented where Poland was at the end ofthe list of European countries in terms of the number of weapons per 100 citizens.
