Summary/Abstract: The author’s approach in this paper work is not research-oriented and aimed at integrating the corpus of Leucippus’ and, in particular, Democritus’ works, however, in the abundance of heterogeneous scripts that were left behind these two Presocratics, to examine the elements of their philosophy of nature and to determine what are the anchor points that determine the atomistic learning of these versatile thinkers. In this paper, the guiding principle in considering the Leucippus’ and Democritus’ doctrines is Aristotle’s fourfold causal schematism. The author concludes that, while on the one hand the necessity and eternity of movement of atoms, as well as of Leucippus’ and Democritus’ emancipation from animistic and teleological interpretations inherent in some predecessors, make the pursuit of efficient and final causes in their fragments seem senseless, on the other hand, their mentioning of atoms and voids, especially of the dual and mixed nature of atoms, enables the Stagirites to talk about the doctrine of the two atomists from the perspective of his own both the material and the formal cause.
