Summary/Abstract: A consistent bibliography, which registers the bulk of regional writing, contributes to the popularisation of the knowledge about the region. The bibliography which is developed in the mode of a current bibliography enables inter alia the transmission of information about recently published materials and it presents the publishing accomplishments of the regions. A systematic tracing of the tendencies in the publishing of regional literature enables a conscious extension of the collection of books and popularisation thereof. In the libraries the task of registering regional literature falls to bibliographers. Regional bibliographers perform a considerable role in the support and the promotion of knowledge about the region. By engaging in various forms of activity, the members of the Regional Bibliography Team at the Board of Management of the Association of Polish Librarians popularise the knowledge about their region. The purpose of the present article is to describe the initiatives of the Team, which disseminates regional themes by means of its activities. The bibliography of regional books, which is maintained by the Team members in a manner which is as systematic and comprehensive as possible, constitutes a source of information and popularisation of the knowledge about the region of inestimable value.
