Summary/Abstract: The text examines the question of post-autonomy in the Argentine literature, where the difference between the autonomous and post-autonomous literatures is introduced. As a fragile concept, post-autonomy helps to elucidate the changes happening in literature as an institution and a social field. Considering the case of Argentina the paper offers an overview of the dominant literary tendencies through examples illustrating conservative but also subversive charge of the aesthetic and political tendencies typical of the Argentine literature of the 20th century. The author suggests that today, at the beginning of the third millennium, we witness the end of the high literature and exhaustion of the aesthetic ideology which was dominant from the Romanticism until today. The question is what is left of literature and what literary politics is possible in the era of globalization. The author suggests further theoretical developing of the term post-autonomy.
