The protection and the ensuring of the security of special collections – conclusions which are drawn from a discussion and the exchange of experience between the participants of a workshop of the Consortium of European Research Libraries in the Hague

Summary/Abstract: On 6–8 September 2017 the Hague provided the venue for a series of workshops devoted to the protection of special collections in libraries, museums and archives. The meeting was organised by the Security Working Group which was established in 2015 by the members of the Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL). In her article, the author presents the results and the conclusions which were drawn from an in-depth survey about the protection of special collections in various European institutions which was conducted among the participants of the meeting, as well as discussions between the representatives of various European centres, especially libraries.
