Summary/Abstract: Of the estimated 14 million ethnic Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin, over three million live outside the present borders of Hungary. When the larger diaspora (in Western Europe, North America, Israel and Australia) is added to the total, roughly a third of the 15 million ethnic Hungarians live outside of Hungary and are citizens of another country.
