Summary/Abstract: Arbitration has become a popular form of dispute resolution, and although the biggest development occurs predominantly in the second half of the 20th century, it is not an advancement of modern law. Arbitration is a way of resolving disputes that is constantly evolving and adapting to new conditions. This article outlines the basic historical development of arbitration, some historical contexts and not always generally known facts.
