Elections in Slovenia

Summary/Abstract: The author gives an account of the beginning of the election system, the course of the elections and the election results of the first multiparty elections in the Republic of Slovenia. He first concentrates on an interpretation of formal-legal, political, organizational, and other preconditions which were the basis for the beginning of a democratic reconstruction of the old political order in Slovenia. He then minutely describes all the phases, participants, doubts, and conflicts which accompanied the shaping of the election law a ns system Finally, he studies certain patterns which emerged in the course of the election process demonstrating in particular the mutual dependence of the election system and the election results.
