Summary/Abstract: The system of the military preparation formed in the early 1920s became the basis of the development of the military preparation classes, and the opinions expressed by the military people, the educators and the PE theorists also became an inspiration of such development. Moreover, all the activity in this domain contributed to the change in the mentality of society that was not willing to support any ideas of “the armed nation” as it was weary with the long-lasting war, and yet it accepted this program. The military preparation had a major influence on the attitudes of the generation that was brought up and came of age in the interwar period. It is apparent when one takes into account the participation of this generation in the war of defence in 1939, and then in the formation of the Polish Underground State under the German occupation. The military preparation realized in Poland in the interwar period is an example of the properly understood preparation of society in case of war that formed an element of the security system of the Second Polish Republic.
