Contrastive Analysis of German and Czech Phraseology on the Example of the ›Arse‹ Component

Summary/Abstract: According to the research portrayed in this article and the corpus developed from it, it is possible to argue that, when compared, phrases containing the component ›arse‹ in German and Czech languages exhibit 29% of equality in form and content: total equivalence in 14% and partial equivalence in15% of the cases. In the majority of the compared examples (i.e. in 39% of the cases), there is just semantical or content equivalence. The differences between the two languages are established in cases of null equivalence (27%)and phraseological false friends (5%) and amount to 32% in total.
