Summary/Abstract: The security environment is evolving dynamically and analysis of is thetask of work security managers. To analyse the security environment weneed different data. There are currently online databases published on thepublicly accessible data warehouse, as well as web map servers, often inthe form of eg. Underlying topographical data used for analysing. Anothersource of data is the Statistical Office and other authorities or police. Spatial analyses often provide a different view of the monitored phenomenon.Crime mapping is a valuable source of data for the analysis of the securityenvironment. An advantage can be considered the identification of riskareas as well as the monitoring of changes in the extent and location of riskplaces. The second advantage is the ability to focus only on the analysis ofselected offenses that can help, for example, in the monitoring of selectedsocial groups. Crime mapping results are important sources of data forcomprehensive analysis of the security environment at the city level. Thisis confirmed by the results of mapping crime in Kosice for the years 2010to 2015 presented in this article.
