Social workers views on the communication actions taken in assistance institutions in the context of shaping communication competencies

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the problem of communication actions taken inassistance and social integration institutions in the context of shaping communicationand media competencies of social workers. Employees’ current estimations aboutcommunication actions in public assistance institutions, on the grounds of Polishnationwide research were presented. Findings of the study confirm thesis aboutdeficit of systematic and constructive actions of PR and low estimation of theireffectiveness. In this context, problematic aspects of changes in social workers’education system were presented. Significant role of modules and courses relatedwith social communication, shaping communication and media competences and alsosubstantial, far-reaching consequences of their deficit, which may translate into lowestimate of effectiveness of assistance activities, were pointed out.
