Summary/Abstract: The relationship between the Romanian people and the Orthodox Church is that of an alcoholic husband and a musty wife. He does not notice, she does not notice. The situation of the Romanian society is an anomaly in the sense of Merton, a situation in which the moral ideals of society are completely disconnected from its actual functioning.
