Summary/Abstract: Flaubert’s Parrot, a 1984 British postmodernist novel, written by Julian Barnes, features a very strong intertextual dialogue which is at times so extensive and elaborated that it makes the narrator’s voice completely disappear behind Flaubert’s, in that way, making the narrator, a true Flaubert’s parrot. This paper will examine all the aspects of intertextuality. Primarily, it will use Genette’s classification of intertextuality detailed within his theory of transtextuality. We will also use the intertextual models classified by Oraić-Tolić and Katnić-Bakaršić with the purpose of thorough analyses of intertextuality and its importance in the novel.
