Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research was to determine the structure and presence of dominant problems in the student population. On a sample of 1176 students the scale of students’ problems was applied, comprising 60 scaled dominant problems emphasized by students in preliminary examinations. Eight interpretable factors were extracted: anxiety connected with studies, discontent with studies and a lack of motivation, problems in social relations, tension and general discontent, dissatisfaction with oneself and one’s appearance, feelings of inadequacy, love-life and sexual problems, as well as a special group of risk factors. A significant presence of these groups of problems in the student population was found. Differences in the incidence of these problems by gender are reported. The discussion considers to what extent these groups of problems could seriously impair the quality of living, studying and academic success of students.
