Summary/Abstract: The golden age of the postcard began in the second half of the 19th century. After the outbreak of Word War I the postcard’ssurface was heavily used by war propaganda. During the war Demeter Annuska, who was born in Kökös in 1901, received anumber of postcards which in depicting pristine female fi gures as objects of desire in correlation with general homesickness andlonging tell the story of another kind of – but mainly the same – propaganda.
