Summary/Abstract: The objective of this article is to show the relevance of sociocultural contexts in any description of socialization, particularly gender socialization. Fundamentally, this perspective considers how culture affects socialization or how culture organizes individuals. Of particular interest is the cultural construction of gender and how this relates to social experience. It is suggested that future research on gender socialization, using a post-structural framework should be towards more contextually specific and detailed studies where focus is on the gendered individual.
