Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse metaphors in German public discourse in the environmental issues and energy policy. The metaphorical expressions, which appear as the key concepts in this discourse and evoke certain cognitive frames, will be examined carefully. By the means of these metaphorical frames, there are structured argumentative topoi which will be de ned and clari ed in this paper. Therefore, the objective of the analysis is to study the key concepts from the frame-based point of view in order to reveal the argumentative topoi.
