THE VOICE OF A LITERARY CRITIC: (RE)CONSTRUCTING CULTURAL IDENTITIES

Summary/Abstract: Inspired by a feastly moment, the paper puts a spotlight on Alexandru Ruja, whose long effort was meant to integrate the literary works written in the province of Banat in the national literature and to enrich the Romanian cultural patrimony by means of critical editions. Brief synthesis of Alexandru Ruja’s labor, the following pages bring some concepts into discussion (periphery, center, multicentricity, identity) and suggest the need of redefining literary criticism so that the national literature might properly placed in “world literature”.
