Summary/Abstract: The article deals with Polish female artists of the interwar period artistically active within diverse realms of fine as well as applied arts. It indicates the issues related to the sociology of the female creators discussed and the distinguishing features of the three stages of their lives. First, their youth (the inspiration and the motives behind the decision to undertake artistic studies and the course of those studies) is addressed. It is followed by the mature period (functioning of the female creators in the society and their families, their positions in the artistic groups of the day, and the status of these female artists as well as their participation in the institutionalized artistic life, the conditions of becoming successful, and other work opportunities); and finally the life models they chose in the old age are presented.
