Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the development of ecological thought in referrence to contemporary economic thought. Comparing conventional and unconventional economy and discussing model of mass -balance -approach, structural models based on Leontief-Ford input -output concept, models of economic systems used in global analysis based on the entropy law and model of energetic value theory. All of the above led to creation of ecological economy paradigm which, supported by the Club of Rome papers, made its way into the economic thought of the 1970s. Ecological issues were also included into traditional economic thought. &e paper recalls selected postkeynesians models of growth based on Domar-Harrod mod- els as well as neoclassical models of growth which dealt with ecological issues. In XXI century the use of the theory of information in intra ecosystem analysis is called for to better understand the determinants of sustainable development economics model.
