Summary/Abstract: It is only with the constitutional amendments of the 1960s tint the constitutions of the individual republics of Yugoslavia have started to acquire differences of some significance. Thus the constitution of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia of 1974 contains some specific provisions not contained in the constitution of the other republics and provinces. The most important ones are: more detailed regulations for the organizing of self-managing communities of interest; the institution of a "changing delegate" in the chambers of socio-political communities; a restrictive interpretation of stipulations concerning the competence of the socio-political chamber; a stronger and more independent position of the Presidency of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; stipulations concerning collective work and responsibilities determining the longest duration of mandates with a right to re-election. The Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia also contains detailed stipulations concerning the rights of nationalities. Some of these provisions have proved to be justified while others will have to be critically analyzed so that the degree to which they are purposeful might he established.
