Summary/Abstract: The present study is aimed at examining the correlation between infertility and the increased presence of anxiety and depression symptoms in relation to the stomach. The study encompassed 122 respondents, of which 79.3% were women with infertility. In addition to the data on pregnancies taken into account, some other general sociodemographic indicators have been taken into consideration as well as self-assessment questionnaires of symptoms of anxiety and depression. The results of the study indicate the existence of statistically significant higher values on anxiety and depression scales in women with infertility than in women who have had pregnancy. Such results point to the existence of symptomatic differences in the psychosocial adaptation plan based on the criteria of proven fertility or fear of enduring sterility, and the associated feeling of inadequacy and of lesser value as other studies show to a considerable degree conditioned by the cultural reception and the social perception of motherhood as one of women's fundamental qualities, reflecting on the self-perception of women with potential sterility, leading to anxiety and depression.
