Summary/Abstract: This article aims to present the complexity of the phenomenon of a disorder. It turns out to be not only a medical issue, but a scientific, legal, political and institutional one as well. The object of analysis is Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and it is based on the Actor-Network Theory and asociology, which define social phenomena as a network of translational intermediaries. The author is primarily interested in the practice, institutions and actors who contributed to shaping and maintaining the image of ADHD as a congenital, chronic and hereditary disease. He shows how these definitions are embodied in practices, institutions, law and politics. In addition to the hybridity and heterogeneity of ADHD, the study also aims to present the major controversies surrounding the diagnosis, treatment and etiology of the disorder.
