Summary/Abstract: In view of the fact that science strives to explain the object of its research by means of opinions based on experience, the author warns of the tendency of separation between opinion and experience. This tendency is manifested in methodology in the form of qualitative and quantitative methodology. Quantophrenia and quantophobia are nothing else but the ultimate consequences of this opposition. In opting fix' qualitative methodology, the »theorists« succumb to quantophobia, while the empiricists, in embracing qualitative methodology, fall victim to quantophrenia. Both approaches arc equally one-sided and equally obstructive to the advancement of social sciences.
