Summary/Abstract: The paper examines projections of folk colour symbolism on hydronymy in Bulgarian lands. Through an analysis it is established, that the frequent use of denominations White (water, or other derivatives from white), and Black (or other denominations from the same root), very often oppose two feeders of one and the same river. In many cases it may be presumed, that there exists an influence of culture systems, in which white (= big, good, right, major) opposes to black (= small, bad, left, inferior), etc. Most frequently the right feeder is the white one, and the left - the black one.
