Summary/Abstract: The Macedonian Band was founded in Istanbul in 1871. It was created in order to protect the Bulgarians' rights in the so-called „Contested eparchies" of the Macedonian Exarchate. The organization's activities have not been researched in detail, therefore in historical views it has been closely related and even replaced with the Exarchate and the community center's policy in Istanbul.
