Summary/Abstract: In May 2013, Turkey saw for the first time in many years a massive wave of anti-government protest. The rapid expansion in major cities of the protests and especially the violent repression of the protesters that were unsatisfied with the decisions taken lately by the Ankara Government concerning their private liberties puts under a question mark not only how Turkish democracy is evolving but also the role model Turkey wants to play for the countries in the Middle East region.
