Summary/Abstract: The outbreak of the civil war in Spain caught the attention of not only European „powers” – Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain and the Soviet Union. The Republic of Poland observed it mainly in terms of its influence on French politics and the evolution of martial arts, as well as the participation of Polish citizens in International Brigades. This formation was perceived as a tool of Soviet interests, and the volunteers struggling in its ranks as potential agents of Soviet intelligence. That is why all information was collected about them, trying above all to get them from the volunteers themselves. Those who granted the most valuable were promised to restore Polish citizenship, which was automatically taken away by the Act of 1920 and 1938. One of the most comprehensive accounts was made by Andrzej Rozborski – Lieutenant XIII Brigade, staying in Spain from August 1937 to August 1938.
