Summary/Abstract: In the article, the author presents the development of bioethics as a scientific discipline, as well as legal and practical regulation of the latest bioethical issues in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Within this context, the author gives a survey of the most relevant questions of contemporary bioethics: new reproductive technologies and research of the embryo, human genetics, clinical research, abortion, euthanasia, the patienfs self-determination, denial of treatment, obtaining and transplanting organs. He also analyzes the presence of these issues in public debates and scientific works, and the changes in legal regulations on the basis of which they are being dealt with.
