Summary/Abstract: Book Review / A result of sustained and systematic investigations, Yanakieva’s book meets the longfelt need in the field of Thracian linguistics for an up-to-date, both summarizing and revising new study of Thracian hydronymy. It puts the finishing touch of her persistent and highly professional scrutiny of Thracian hydronymic relicts from 1995 up to now. The author is known to those who are tempted by the problems of Palaeo-Balkan languages not only by her competence as a linguist in the field of the Indo-European, Thracian and comparative linguistics, but also by her awareness as a philologist of the ancient sources (literal, epigraphic and archeological), their sound interpretation and cultural contextualizing.
