Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the development of the study of everyday life as a legitimate branch of historical research. A broader review of Richard Stites' Revolutionary Dreams offered the author the possibility to explore several issues related to everyday life and its changes during the first phase of the Russian Revolution. The change of attitudes toward the rituals of everyday life (i.e. birth, marriage and death), as well as the change of attitudes toward alcoholism, domestic violence and the role of women in society became the focus of this work.
