Founding a Part of the Questionnaire of the Ethnological Atlas: Rainbow and Stars in Beliefs

Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned with the foundations of the ethnoastronomical part of the Ethnological Atlas questionnaire, created under the editorship of the late Branimir Bratanić in 1967. Literature and known manuscripts related to the issue and available at the time are compared with the contents of the questionnaire. It can be shown that the ethnoastronomical part of this questionnaire, as its only complete ethnotaxonomical part, did comprehend information based on important published and unpublished domestic sources. However, it can be assumed that the appropriate part of the Polish Atias kultury ludowej and a book derived from it were not known at the time.
